First, find a quiet place with the least amount of external stimulus possible. Close your eyes and slowly count to 20. Slowly inhale, while you're doing this recall past events in your life...any event, good or bad...just try and recall it to the best of your knowledge.
Now exhale and instead of thinking about your past, image your future...your hope and dreams, your worries and fears..think about anything you wish...as long as it's in the future.
Repeat this process 5 times.
Now I want to meditate your pending death...how does this fact make you feel? What will happen to these thoughts you just had when you die? Are you just a collection of random thoughts of past and future events? Of course, not, you are a part of the now and that's all there is, or will ever be.
